Hull Thursday Road Race

Jack Cutsforth outsprinted Stephen Henson and Lee Allen in the road race, six times up Newbald Hill.

Big G Sportive 2010

I have received a few emails asking if the Big G sportive is taking place this year. Paul Kilvington has offered again to organise this event and it will be taking place on the 17th July 2010. More details will appear once the online entry system has been finalised.

I think on behalf of the club we should appreciate the huge amount of work that goes into organising this large scale event and therefore thank Paul for stepping forward yet again to make the event possible. However the committee cannot do everything and the sustainability of this event relies on YOU 'club member' and 'friends' of Hull Thursday Road Club to help out on the day. This event requires over 50 marshals to go ahead, if you could help give up a fully day, morning, afternoon or a few hours it would be very appreciated.

A Note from Mark in the USA on the start of his season

Sat 27 Fork Shoals RR M45+ 45 miles 
Placed 23 
 
3 laps of a 15 mile circuit. Very attacking race but nothing succeeded. Broke away on last lap and enjoyed about 5 mile of freedom before being reeled in with 1 mile to go. Nothing left in the tank for the gallop that came at the end of a short steep climb so trailed in at the back of the bunch.

Placed 7 
 
6 laps of a 7 mile circuit. Several riders dislodged themselves on the 2nd part of the first lap. Coming through the start / finished area this looked to be the move to be in so jumped from the bunch to chase and made contact with the break 1/2 mile later. Although one or two got carried away going through and off, for the most part the group worked well in very blustery conditions so never saw the bunch again. After 6 laps only 7 riders were left for the sprint after another up hill drag (not my cup of tea) so 7th was my placing and highly delighted with the weekend form.
