of 14 held on Tuesday 5th July, 2005 Sponsored by Star Bikes Chris Whitelam Still Unbeaten Paul is always searching for new circuits and tonight he’s devised one south of Gilberdyke around Yokefleet, Blacktoft and Staddlethorpe – all three villages have less houses than there is in our street. Eight miles around it are usually windswept, it is a flat course with some sharp bends and virtually traffic free. Tonight there was another obstacle – rain and flooding. It came down in torrents, the road was waterlogged and would have made a good setting for “The Water Babies”. I suppose you could call it a float day (or night) and Chris Whitelam certainly sailed in an easy winner. Unusual for Chris Daddy he was first off and returned in 19:45, the original intention from Paul was to make up the distance to ten miles, but he took pity on the timekeepers huddled together to just make it one lap. It wasn’t a night to be messing about measuring. So, with 20 minutes a target to beat for the eight miles on this course, Dean Fulstow returned two minutes later in 19.47. Somewhere in between Mark Walker managed to get himself lost and went off course. How do you do that, Mark? There are only farm roads to go down. After another ten minutes Richard Benbrook came back in 20:44 to be in third place for a while, well until Paul Kilvo beat that with a 20.21. Two minutes later Derek Palmer did 20.04 but that didn’t last long. Steve Macklin did a great ride with 19.14 beating Ryan MacLachlan, who came in right after him, by 25 seconds. That put them first and second until Chris Whitelam’s 17.59 clinched it very convincingly. Chris’s time I work out to be the equivalent of 22 minutes 28 seconds for a “10”. Result
