Wright Cup TT - Etton, 9th May

Another good night for racing and 27 riders facing the time keeper and only 2 riders failing to show. 3 laps of the undulating circuit at Etton on a fairly warm night but there seemed to be a slight headwind all the way round and no section where the wind was particularly helpful (Doesn't it always seem that way).

The wind was definitely from an easterly direction which makes for slower times than when its from the west but there were still some very good time returned here tonight.

Chris Whitelam took another convincing victory, second was Steve Macklin who was 33 seconds in arrears and third Steve Guymer at 55 seconds . These 3 were in a league of their own tonight and were much faster than the rest of the riders. Chris's ride is at an average of 26.2 mph - pretty damn quick when you think the course has a total of 8 corners including 2 almost dead stops and 3 climbs to contend with!!!

Both Steves put in excellent performances tonight but they still have some work to do if they are to reach the top step of the podium. Some good racing should follow for the rest of the season

Karl downs was fourth, showing good form, and leading a closely packed group of riders but was 2.40 minutes behind Chris. It was still an excellent result from Karl who is improving with every event.

Tim, Andy (Peers), Dean, Glenn and myself were all closely grouped on the 34 minute mark with only a handful of seconds between each position. John Lockwood was next before another closely grouped bunch on the 36 minute mark including Pete Doug, Nathan and Dave.

Chris Daddy returned the third fastest time of the night as a private entry and after good result at the LIncoln Gran Prix on Sunday (Well done Chris - an excellent ride in a top quality field)

In the Juvenile section it was avery close run thing with only 12 seconds separating the top 3. Vince took the honours with 7 seconds to spare over Calum and Matty taking 3rd spot. Mark Walker recorded his best time on this circuit and is slowly closing the gap on the others

Thanks to Liz Kilgour and Pete Ledaine for time keeping and Andy Cawley for pushing off. This was Liz's first time timekeeping on her own and she deserve a big thank you for taking on a much needed role - thanks Liz. Also thanks to Roy Harvey and Mrs Walker (sorry can't remember your first name) for marshalling
