Ask
any of the riders what sort of a night it was and you'd
have to bung up your ears. It didn't rain and it wasn't
cold - but it was very windy; seemingly on every leg of
the course. The circuits east of the city seem always to
suffer from this.
The
Ladies' section was won again by Vanessa, their competition
is over only one lap but two of the girls were brave enough
to go round for the second lap - just for the hell of it.
Vanessa, however, had to hand over a wheel to brother James
who took it round to beat everyone in the Men's section.
Guess it must be a magic wheel, nothing at all to do with
ability.
Jon
Dibble was the fastest of the regulars, a minute down on
James but almost a minute up on Neil who was ahead of Steve
Macklin and Dave Shackleton. Theirs was a closer battle
but if you study the lap times you'll see Shack was much
faster on the second lap. And why was that you might ask
- well maybe Shack didn't warm up long enough or Steve Macklin
died a bit on the second. If you look again at the result
you'll see that Dean Fulstow was faster than Dave Shack
on the first lap but he lost a lot on the second.
