OPEN TEN 29th July, 2003.
Joel Wainman had no problems winning the Open Ten, this year on the V719 , a sporting course around Lockington village above Beverley. With 4 non-starters in his group which included Wayne Randle and Tony Stott, it's not surprising that Joel had more than a minute margin over the next best time. Considering the bumps and sharp turns this is a superb time.
Organiser Mick Adams was disappointed with only 37 entries for the event, but was even more disappointed when the rain came in incessantly, starting three hours before the event. Shame after we've had such good weather, and 15 riders didn't start.
Second fastest of the night was Andy Waddington from Swindon; a big surprise this was for Brid's Jeremy Ireland who was sitting in the changing rooms waiting/hoping he'd won the B section. Jez also beat 24 minutes.
Gary Fulstow narrowly beat Chris Garden in the C Group, and rivals in club events turned to rivals in Opens, Nathan Wilson and Andy Peers, both had equal times in the D group. Mike Kilgour is steadily improving - it's not his best time but it's not bad on this course, sufficient to win the E group.
