Purdy Powers around the Lockington circuit to take the fourth
in the series
Paul
Purdy seemed a little surprised after the Mark Swift event,
not that he'd won, but by the margin. "I'm just taking
it easy this year and enjoying my cycling," said Paul
admitting to putting in a bit of an effort through the lanes.
The
night was cold with a fair wind from the north, a disappointment
after the summery weather we'd enjoyed over the past week.
First man back under thirty minutes was John Lockwood (27.01)
but Dave Shackleton was quick to depose him with a 25.21.
Andy Barnes then came close with 26.01 and Derek Palmer
26.50. Neil Cleminshaw was the next speed merchant to arrive
but a little short of his usual fitness, not able to give
as much time to his training this year, recorded 25.54.
Chris Burton just outside a 26 minute ride and then it wasn't
long before Paul Purdy produced the ride of the night. a
minute faster than Dave's. Ryan MacLachlan recorded 26.07,
then Dean Fulstow arrived with 25.15 to take second place.
Right at the very end of the race was Steve Macklin with
26.07 and young Steven Guymer (27.15).
Lots
of new kit on display looking really smart and there was
a good number of first-timers. Good to see young Callum
McElwee moving up in the result order. Callum will have
some competition this year, 14 year old Mark Walker rode
his first race and everyone improves from the first one.
