Chris
Whitelam remains undefeated in the Time Trial Series
A
much nicer evening for this event - even some of the race
helpers were in shorts. Chris Whitelam powered around the
two undulating laps and once more seems invincible unless
maybe we can persuade Stuart Dangerfield to come down here
and take part.
Dean
Fulstow is only a handful of seconds behind Paul Purdy now
and the two have pulled away by quite a margin from the
rest of the competitors. Dean puts in a lot of hard training
work and it seems to be paying off. If the course is indeed
14 miles exactly then you need to beat 33.48 to better 25
miles per hour. The three men in black all managed this,
this not being the dragstrip course favoured by those who
like to see how 'fast' they can go. I think we can honestly
say this is not an easy course.
Calum
is another one going forward, I'm told that his time is
a schoolboy record for this course (need to check as it
could be that Calum is breaking all the course records for
his age). He went around at 22.9 mph assuming that a lap
is 7 miles (probably less as you'll notice there's just
over a minute difference between first and second lap times
- the distance between finish and start). Nevertheless Calum's
time compares favourably with everyone else's first lap
time.
Incidentally,
Val Brabiner only needed to go round once. She beet husband
Ian on the first lap but he managed to come back on her
in the second lap. I wonder what their after-dinner chatlines
are!
