Training Week 4 Cottingham 27th January 2007
A bit better was the weather today so we added another lap, eight laps in all; still only fifty four and a half minutes work for the scratch group, roughly 21½ miles.
Only three riders for the first group today, Andy Carroll, Phil Eden and Simon Mason.
In the second group, four minutes later, were Nathan Chester, Paul Kilvington, Mike Kilgour, Dave Hudson, Dave Galbraith, Mark Walker, John Askew, John Lockwood, and Ashley Smith.
Another three minutes before the scratch group: Neil Cleminshaw, Joel Wainman, Michael Chorlton, Steve Guymer, Karl Downes, Lewis Jackson, Paul Jolliffe, Nathan Wilson and Steve Ward.
Overall the times were faster than last week, but then the weather conditions were much easier. It was steady pace almost all the way with a perceptive overhauling, roughly half a minute a lap, of the second group by the scratch group. All together with three laps to go, they stayed that way and kept the pace right to the end. A real ‘group’ session. Unfortunately there were a few horses around the course and the course next week should be free of them, thanks for being considerate towards them. I do believe that the middle group could have stayed away to the finish if you all worked together and shared the work equally – another half a mile an hour would have done it easily.
Thanks to the marshals Richard Guymer, Rob Stones, Don Wilkinson, Dennis Hunter, Barry Trotter, Les Barratt, and to Liz Kilgour for timing. If anyone can help the next two weeks out at Sproatley, east of the city, we’d all be grateful.
