Big G's Last Ride
Goodbye Big-G
It
was a reasonably happy group met at Skidby on the ride to see Graeme off. The
ride was perhaps a little shortened because, after a quick lunch at the Mill
café we met at 1 o'clock at the corner of Willerby Low Road and Castle Hill, where many others were able to join, ready
to sit in behind as G led the ride to his last resting place.
It felt like he was driving along in his usual manner; as the road turned upwards, the speed got faster, the group got spread out, and there was a big sprint at the end but a photo finish wasn't necessary. It was a good service with eulogies from Paul Kilvington and Les Barratt. The chapel was full, as was the wake held at the Star in Willerby where we had a lot of time to reminisce with old friends.
Nice to meet up with Stewart again who sent me this message on behalf of his family
"The Foresters - Beryl, Stu
and Karen, Sue and Josie would like to thank everyone who turned up to say goodbye
to Graeme. What a fantastic turnout, he would have been really chuffed. As usual
Graeme was at the front leading the club run. We thought it was fantastic and
a fitting tribute. We were pleased to see so many friends, new and old, at The
Star reminiscing about the good times we have had over the years with Hull Thursday
RC.
Thank you all for joining in the celebration of Graeme's life. "
Here's a few pix that were taken by Simon Mason and myself:
