Jim's Training Event 6
Training Week Six Brantingham 11 laps
Eleven laps may seem like a lot but on this short circuit it’s just over 23 miles and the scratch group completed it in just 23 seconds outside the hour, which includes a chat lap in which they conceded virtually a minute to the group in front of them.
As far as conditions go this was by far the best day of the year – very little wind, sunshine and dry and double figure temperature – I’ve forgotten what Fahrenheit equivalents are a long time ago and don’t know why some of my compatriots persist with it. Twenty two turned up and Richard and I split them into three groups; four might have been better but these three worked together pretty well, with groups two and three arriving together on the last lap. The scratch group’s time on the last lap was just under 25 mph which is pretty good on this circuit with its corners and lumps, might not look lumpy to the naked eye but you just ask the riders.
Group One: Simon Mason, Craig Medcalf, David Hunt, Joe Gibbins, Thomas Gibbins, Les Phillips, Stuart Wadsworth, Ellis Thackray, Rob Busby
Group Two: Phil Eden, Mike Kilgour, Mark Walker, Mark McKeown, David Brearley, Dave Hudson
Group Three: Karl Downes, Andy Tummons, Ryan MacLachlan, Steve Guymer, Nathan Wilson, Paul Noton, Pete Fielding-Smith

Thanks again to Don, Terry and Sheila for marshalling. Next week is as Sproatley, it’s a really good circuit, just right if you’re going to ride those two-ups that appear on the calendar in March
