Result of Presidents Trophy at Gilberdyke on 30th June 2009
A great night for racing with warm and sunny conditions saw Steven Guymer break the course record (held by Neil Cleminshaw) by 8 seconds to finish with an emphatic victory over Steve Macklin. The winning margin of 54 seconds is probably the biggest of the year so far. Although it was a little breezy, that made it hardest along the leg through Yokefleet and Blacktoft, it was still a very pleasant evening which saw 21 riders face the timekeeper. Behind the leading 2 riders was lots of close results with mark Ollernshaw taking 3rd place from mar McKeown who elected to ride fixed wheel again. Nathan took 5th with two more Marks (Summer and walker hot on his drop outs)
It was also nice to see Neil racing again and although a little bit of his usual pace (about 2 minutes by the look of things) it was still a good performance for his first event of the year.
Josh Dunham (a juvenile riding for the event sponsor’s Star Bikes RT) also rode fixed wheel as a private entry and recorded a very good time for his age
The next event is in 2 weeks time at Newbald and is a standard road bike event - meet in the usual place at 6.30 pm (The picnic site off the Walkington High Hunsley Road (B1230)
