Road Race League Event 4 Walkington Circuit 11th June 2009

The second race around the Walkington course brought conditions calmer than the previous event with no headwind to contend with on the three mile drag up to the crossroads at High Hunsley. The faster groups were not able to make the headway they did before and the early groups took full advantage of it.

A diminished group A was given an extra couple of minutes start but they are so unequal it made no difference to the outcome. The Beverley lads had a strong influence in keeping the distance allocated to the B group right from the start to the finish.

In Group A were Jodie Brumhead, Stuart Wadsworth and Terry Parker.

Group B was Andy Carroll, Benjamin Bell, Carl Dickinson, Chris Jordan, Christian Colbeck, Craig Medcalf, Derek Palmer, Graham Lonsdale, Mark Robinson, Neil Dean, Paul Waddington, Richard Benbrook, Rob Brown, Sam Dyason, Steven Cooper and Tom Stockell

Group C at a further 3 minutes were Dean Fusltow, Garry Fulstow, Jason Young, Mark Ollerenshaw, Paul Allen, Paul Purdy and Rob Busby

Group D back another 2 minutes were Ben Roberts, Carl Martin, Dave Compston, David Brearley, James Wagstaffe, John Galway, Lee Watson, Mark Walker, Martin Cockerill, Matthew Enticknap, Paul Hickman, Rob Powell, Steve Macklin and Tom Atkinson

Another minutes was group E  comprised of Chris Daddy, Chris Whitelam, John Askew, Nathan Wilson, Pete Fielding-Smith, Richard Lambert and Richard Moore.

Finally the scratch group at another minute who were Adam Duggleby, Alastair Kay, Dave Shackleton, James Sampson and Steve Guymer.

Although the scratchmen merged with their immediate group and the B group joined, or passed, the A group just after lap one, the remaining gaps came down only slowly to finish with three distinct groups.

The next event is on the Newbald course.
