Jim's Training
Training Ride Five
Saturday, 31st January 2009
Brantingham Circuit
This was one of those very hard days, very cold, very windy but dry and sunny, and very lucky as the weather is forecast to deteriorate over the next few days. Group riding is as much learning how to shelter as it is on how to ride hard; look at the elite group and see how compact they kept themselves.
Once again the groups were reversed, that is the fastest went off in group one, which comprised Steven Guymer, Richard Moore, Peter Fielding-Smith, Nathan Wilson and David Brearley.
Only two Malton lads in Group two, Matthew Enticknap and Paul Hickman, with Mark Ollerenshaw, Lee Watson, John Brearley and Rob Busby.
Group three was Andy Tummons, Paul Kilvington, Mark McKeown, Mark Walker, Dave Hudson and Craig Medcalf.
Group Four consisted of Rob Stones, Andy Cawley, Dave Watson, Stephen Carrigan, Graeme Lawton, Mark Robinson, Les Phillips, Phil Eden, Simon Mason, Paul Campbell and Paul Hayward..
Group five were Sarah Tock, Polly Marett, S Carpenter, Jodie Brumhead, Alex Saleh and Scott Redmond and Andy Faichney opting to look after them all.

You can analyse these times as well as I can, easy to see that group two started faster than group one but then began to lose out, perhaps something to learn here about training sessions. It is difficult to keep group five together but it was nice to see some more girls here and the new ones did quite well. The wind was bitter, I know because I left my gloves and hat at home, so especial thanks to all the helpers, Don, Barry and Terry, Dennis and my stand-in Richard.
