Sproatley Circuit
How lucky can you get? I was really concerned about the state of the circuit after the heavy snowfall and freezing condition since Thursday afternoon, and I left an inspection until the last minute. The road was ok, although there was quite a bit of mud on the Burton Constable road but that's not unusual. I didn't expect so many to turn up as well, thirty five riders, perhaps desperate to get some good training miles in.
More and more keep coming from Malton Wheelers, they're really keen and come from around Malton and York. Colin Sinclair alsop came from York but best of all is Paul Noton who now lives in Leeds and rode out to do the session. But he wasn't from farthest away, Damian Evington now lives in Paris - Good to see you Damian, and Mike Moss too.
Not expecting so many I cut the groups down to four, we could easily have had five again. ome of the riders I mis- placed, Paul Cutsworth was one who should have been in a faster group. Nevertheless the groups worked well again together, I know Chris Goodway had had enough by the finish. Fortunately there wasn't a great deal of wind today, it's a different ballgame when it's windy, you have to learn to echelon properly then. Really good to see Jason Young back after breaking his collar bone only four weeks ago, and he performed well enough to stay with the fast group.
Group one had John Ketley, Karl Downes, Mark Ollerenshaw, Dave Shackleton, Jack Cutsforth, Damian Evington, Mike Moss, Jason Young, Richard Moore, John Askew, David Brearley
Group two was Steve Macklin, Matthew Enticknap, Rob Busby, Dave Hudson, Colin Sinclair, Chris Goodway, Paul Noton, Andy Tummons
Group three was Pul Hickman, Craig Medcalf, Andy Faichney, Mark Robinson, Paul Kilvington, Mike Kilgour, Tony Washbrook, Phil Eden, Paul Campbell.
Group four comprised Paul Hayward, Sarah Carpenter, Holly Marett, Richard Allen, Ivan Daleo Greg Morgan and Daniel Young.
We've got two more weeks on this circuit and weather permitting, we can have ten laps, it only took the fast group 52 minutes to go round and that includes a reasonably slow (for them) chat lap. This is the easiest circuit for us to marshal but thanks again to Terry, Don and Sheila, and to Richard for the lap times.
